Food & Drink

Our aim is to prepare good wholesome food, for the hungry outdoor types.

Our four course dinner menu offers choices of starters, main course and puddings or desserts.

The Chef uses fresh local produce where ever possible and are well balanced to cater for the wide range of international tastes.

Fresh local Lamb, the Finest Orkney Beef and the freshest and tastiest fish you have ever tasted.

Vegetarians are very welcome. Breakfast, an important start to every day, is both varied and plentiful.

Traditional Cooked full Scottish breakfast Continental Breakfast Cereals, Yogurts or fruit.

STARTERS
Soup of the day:
Served with a warm roll

Cullen Skink:
Traditional creamy Scottish soup made with Shetland smoked Haddock, tatties and onion. Served with a warm roll.

Pate:
Chef's own chicken liver pate served with toast and spiced red onion marmalade.

Prawn Cocktail:
The old ones are the best! Served with sliced brown bread.

Tattie Skins:
Grilled with tomato chutney and chilli cheddar.

Fruit Kebabs:
Fresh seasonal fruit skewers served with a honey yogurt dip.

Orkney Herring: 
Sweet cured Orkney Herring in luxury marinade served with Shetland oatcakes.

Mussels: 
Locally sourced mussels served in a white wine and herb jus.

BURGERS
Chef's own Orkney steak mince burger or bean burger  served with cheese* in a sesame bun with salad, chips, coleslaw and tomato chutney.

Peppered Steak & onion Sandwich:
Julienne of Orkney beef pan-fried with onions and cracked black peppercorns. Served in a Focaccia bread baguette with salad garnish.

SALADS
Orca Country Inn House Salad served with a medley of Chef's own potato salad, coleslaw, egg mayonaise and pasta. With your choice of:-
Cheese

Roast silverside of Orkney beef 
Hot smoked salmon 

Cheese and Fruit salad:
Smoked Cheddar with strawberries and apples drizzled with strawberry balsamic vinaigrette.

 

MAIN COURSES
Minced Beef Pasta Bake:
Orkney steak mince with fusili pasta baked with mozarella cheese in a rich tomato & basil sauce.

Haddock:
Locally landed and supplied fresh haddock; breaded or battered served with chef's own tartare sauce.

Orca Country Inn's Own Scampi:
The real Mcoy! Locally landed and supplied fresh monkfish tails, sliced and rolled in breadcrumbs served with chef's own tartare sauce.

Hot Smoked Salmon:
Shetland smoked salmon served with a smoked bacon, wholegrain mustard and white wine sauce.

Smoked Haddock & Asparagus Pasta Bake:
Locally smoked Shetland Haddock with tricolore penne pasta and asparagus spears baked with cheddar cheese.

8oz Orkney Sirloin Steak - 11oz Orkney Rump Steak:
All steaks cooked to your liking and served with tomato and mushrooms.
Add a sauce; Pepper, Diane, Garlic & Onion and Chasseur 

All meals above served with a choice of chips, potatoes, salad or vegetables of the day.

Lamb Cutlets:
Grilled Shetland lamb cooked to your liking, served with apple mash and honey, redcurrant and rosemary sauce*.

Braveheart Chicken:
Breast of Scottish chicken with traditional Shetland oatmeal stuffing, served on clapshot with Haggis onion and whisky sauce*.
*These dishes can be served with vegetables of the day

Fruity Nutty Vegetable Korma:
Mango, pineapple, sultanas, alamonds, coconut with select vegetables in a mild creamy curry sauce. Served with basmati rice.

Vegetable Enchiladas:
Pan fried sweet peppers, mushroom, onion etc in a tomato & mild Mexican spiced sauce wrapped in floured tortillas, then grilled with mozzerella, served with salad garnish and chips.
