Welcome to The Orca Country Inn
''BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPES, HISTORY EVERYWHERE AND WILDLIFE TO RIVAL ANYWHERE ON EARTH''
A WARM FRIENDLY GUEST HOUSE WITH 6 COMFORTABLE ROOMS WITH SPECTACULAR SEA & HILL VIEWS CATERING FOR ALL OUTDOOR TYPES, ESPECIALLY BIRDERS ,FISHERMEN, WALKERS & CYCLISTS.
The original house dates back to 1880 and is set in the idyllic, award winning village of Hoswick, on the South Mainland of Shetland. Lying halfway between Sumburgh Airport 12 miles to the south and Lerwick ferry terminal 12 miles to the north. An ideal base for exploration of South Shetland, and easy reach to many of the top visitor sites, including Mousa RSPB reserve & Mousa broch, St Ninian’s Isle, Boddam Croft House Museum and Sumburgh Head RSPB reserve, to name just a few.
The Inn sits on a hillside overlooking the Village of Hoswick and the Bay beyond. Due to our sheltered position our grounds are full of trees, a real luxury in Shetland, especially for the Birders, as during Spring and Autumn migration, the trees act as a magnet for the birds.
Wildlife watching is a major attraction for our visitors as well as walkers, cyclists, archaeologists and those just wanting to find a “get away from it all” location. Surrounded by the native and migrant wildlife that makes Shetland so special, especially the Killer Whales (Orcas) that regularly frequent the Bays close to the Orca Country Inn. To find out in more detail about the Inn, Hoswick, Shetland & its many attractions please view our other information pages.
ANGLERS, WALKERS, CYCLISTS WELCOME.
